94-95 GTs have a very aggressive tune from the factory. It is pretty common for them to ping especially if the sensors are older and not reading so great. Specifically the IAT, Coolant Temp Sensor, and 02's.

I know you set the timing but is also common for the balancer to spin so make sure it hasn't begun to separate. (You would see the rubber sticking out of the middle more then likely.)

Welcome to owning a bastard year car 94-95s have a lot of odd stuff compared to there foxbody brethren. Good luck.

Have you checked the FP while driving yet? If you don't have a gauge in the car where you can see it, you can put one on the schrader valve. Start the car, check pressure, shut it off and run check pressure quickly. If it drops to zero immediately, you have a bad fuel pressure regulator. It should gradually drop pressure once you shut it off. If it drops immediately, the diaphragm in the regulator is bad.

I had this problem with a BBK regulator. It cut out about 4k rpms and I put a Kirban on it and resolved the issue. I already had a 255 in tank pump and new filter though.
