Ok so I picked up this 87 S10 a few months ago. The kid I got it from was driving it daily and said that I could do the same. He was asking 1500 for it but I ended up giving him 800 for it since he didn't tell me about all the rust until I got there. The truck drove great the entire hour and a half drive home.
So the next morning I pop the hood to check the oil (it was late and I couldn't see crap the night before) and I realize that the dip stick is wedged in between the manifold and the block. the dipstick was jammed and there was no way to check the oil at all. I ordered a set of swap headers and a new dip stick tube to fix the problem.
The trans has a big shift kit in it also. I noticed after a few days of driving the shifts were getting weaker and weaker so I went to check the trans fluid to find out that to dipstick is not there either. Im looking now for a new dipstick tube.
So now for what I need help with. The truck diesels when you kill it witch tells me that the timing is off. Someone pulled the thermostate out, Im guessing because until I swapped the radiator out a week ago because it was leaking like crazy.
I need to know how to set a Edelbrock 600 Carb back to factory. I think that whatever dumbass half ass built this truck turned the tune all off and I have a lot of work to do to get this thing running again.
Oh to top it off I realized a few days ago that someone CUT all the back brake hard line out of the truck. Someone had this truck as a drag truck and my guess is someone tried to turn it back into a street truck.
