Z71 CV axle

Well, in the last day of the ice, the front left CV axle on my '99 Z71 just fell off. It disconnected from the front differential, and it looks like it has done any damage. It'll still run and drive, but since the cv axle is just rotating around down there, I only limped it to the other side of the yard.

I believe the bolts to connect it just came loose, but I'm not 100% sure if new bolts are all I need. It looks like some fresh grease from the CV axle came out of it and covered part of the inner boot. Would it be a good idea to replace it, or should I just reconnect it and see if parts fly or not?

There is a 5.3l/4l60e chebby short wide on CL for 3k. Runs, drives, etc. It even has the 99+ model dash installed, with everything working.

Easy to replace and NAPA has them with a lifetime warranty. When I drove a lifted Z71 i got really good at changing them... Takes about 30 min when you have done it a few times.

Yea, they are super easy. Literally a few bolts, and that's it. Mine isn't lifted, luckily.

Meh.... I daily drove and abused a few lifted Z71s for several years. Ain't no thang if you keep up with stuff.
