tko/3550 experts

Do you preload the input/main shaft bearings? The tremec spec calls for .000 to .004 endplay, shims are in .004 increments. Counter shaft is .002 endplay with current shims, how much is too much, if any, preload on the main?

I seem to find people putting ~.002 preload on the counter shaft, the main bearings with preload concern me because of the needle bearings between the input and the main shaft.

I hear you can preload up the t5z because it's a tapered roller to the input shaft but I'm not sure with the needle bearings on the 3550/tko.

I ended up .001 preload on the main, .002 endplay on the cluster
