  • 2002 Chevy Silverado

Thinking of picking up a 2002 SWB Silverado 5.3L for a daily beater. What are some basic mods to wake these trucks up? It does have 3.73's and a single Flowmaster exhaust. Everything else is stock.

FWIW In 04 I bought a new 1500 long bed for work with a 5.3 in it and 3.73s with an automatic. with no belt and removing the filter it ran 14.6 @92.
They are quick for what they are stock. A tune really wakes them up though.
Oh ya,I put 190K hard miles on it and the only problem was a front wheel bearing. Other then that it ran as good as the day I bought it.

Depending on tire size I would jump to a 4.10 gear and get a bigger converter.
If your a cheap ass like me, I would get a trailblazer converter.
              Not the SS one.
Personally I like red light to red light playing.
Leave the stock manifolds on. That allows you to retain the low end torque.
Then gtr some new plugs and wires and do a good tune up and have it tuned.
              You will be impressed.
Anything above and beyond those things I stated.
