  • Calling all knowledgable welders

Just moved this from the back porch. I picked up a Lincoln IDEALARC DC-400 welder with the Lincoln LN-7 wire feeder attachment. It's a big bastard and an older model. I'm looking to see what it's worth. Im pretty sure everything works on it and it has just been sitting in the corner of my shop. I'll post pics later of it but what would be a good start price to ask for it? of course ill clean it up cause its pretty filthy from just sitting in a machine shop.

                    It's an industrial unit

Likely setup for 480 volt but most have a connection for 230 also. Good for welding I-beam and heavy steel. We use the newer ones at work. Don't know what the value would be, with all the companies going under there are many sitting unused. Too big for home use.
Don't worry about what you can't change.
Do the best you can with what you have.
Be honest, even if it hurts.

It's not worth a WHOLE lot, but it's still a good box. I used one like it for years when I worked oil field. You can use the power source as a stick welder too if you have the leads.

Like Jyro said, it's most likely for 440V, and much too heavy for a hobbyist.

The one I used before was welding 1" thick gear hubs with sub-arc wire (like 3/32" thick!) if that tells you how powerful they are.

                        JUST like this:
