  • Question for the racers who turn

I'm ordering some softer coil-over springs this week. I'm not sure of the length tho. On MM's website, I see 10" and 12" What length should I get?

Just call them, they will tell you which ones will work the best.

If you know your corner weights and what spring rate and length you are running now, you can figure out what the change in ride height would be if you were to just change to a different spring rate leaving all else the same. If the change is small then the same length should work fine. If the change is a lot and will take you out of or near the max of the spring perch's adjustment range, then you might need to get a longer spring.
For example, when I ran really soft drag springs in the front, I was running a 14". With stiffer street/mild roadrace springs they were 12".
Or just call MM like others suggested.

what spring rates are you on currently, what are you going to, what dampers?

Unfortunately, I let the installer order the springs. I don't know the length but I know the rate. 450lbs on the front and equally ridiculous on the rear, on some Bilstein HDs (Hence the reason I'm changing. These are waaaay too stiff.) So for that rate, I have either 8" or 10" I'm just gonna call MM before I order. I'm going to like a 300fr/225r setup

Keep in mind your motion ratios when you select springs, the rate means absolutely nothing without considering the motion ratio. I'm sure MM will steer you in the right direction.

Dang. Motion Ratios? I just want to order springs, not attempt to beam a moving target onto the Starship Enterprise.

10" front. Likely same length you currently have in rear. I would go 350/250 and work from there. 225 in the rear with a torque arm is going to be softer than a C spring. As a reference i run 450/375 on my race car.

maximum may have a better recommendation however, your car is NOSE heavy with the terminator motor. Give them a call and ask. They won't steer you wrong if you tell them what the car is being used for. Vehicle weight front and rear or just total if you have it and what parts are on the car. Should get you pretty close to what you are looking for.

200's on the nose and stack them full of spring rubbers.

you forgot all the reinforcement to the strut tower and camber plate after they are beaten into the hood!

Please let us know what MM recommends. I have a Terminator swap in mine too and it had a bit of understeer after the swap. After that I went to drag springs but I'm getting tired of that setup since I never make it the track anyway.

Hey Matt do you have scales? When ever the day comes that my Mach is done I need to get it weighed so I can do just this. I have all MM panhardbar/torque arm and 4 corner coil overs but I need to check if the spring rates on the car are correct.
