My boss has an 08 GMC that I was using yesterday to pull my Mustang to the dealer. Nothing heavy, just the car on my 18' trailer. I was headed over the mountain pass here in El Paso and made it almost to the top. It was lugging pretty good in overdrive then right as it seemed about to downshift, it rattled like an old diesel and started pouring fuel smoke. I figure it cracked an injector tip. Thoughts? And any way to do cylinder cutoff tests to see which one is acting up?

I have EFI Live, so I would use it to check injector balance.
If you have somebody with a good scan tool like a SnapOn Solus or similar, you can do an injector kill test -
Cool deal, one of the guys we work with just had his Snap-On scanner sent to him, hopefully it'll have that feature. Does it sound like a broken injector to you? I've been away from the diesel injection stuff pretty much since 08.Comment
