I can get Bosch remans for $1800/set
Really? I may hit you up after the first of the year on the bosch remans. I have too many dang projects right now with moving into a new shop...

I have no perspective for diesels except for what I read on here, but got damn, $1800 for a set of injectors is a hook up? Whoa. You diesel fellas sho gotta pay to play.

              horseshit aint it?

I guess the ability to spray fuel at 25k psi isnt cheap.

Really it is a good deal. Knowing you're getting what you're paying for is a bonus. In perspective I have owned the truck since new at the end of 05. I have only had to fix the common a/c recirc door issue, change the a/c clutch, and change a sensor and pressure governor in trans. So over the span of nearly 8 years I have, prior to this, spent less than $500 dollars in repairs. So added to the $1950 for the injectors $2450 in repairs for a large tow/travel use truck is miniscule relatively speaking. Not to mention it gets phenomenal fuel mileage <70 if I don't lay into it

Once I get the Cummins fixed and make sure its reliable, I'm gonna sell it. I'm strongly considering going with a gas engine next time. If not gas, It'll be a 12 valve or pre Common Rail Diesel 24 valve.

When fuel was .99 a gallon and a Cummins was a $4000 upgrade, I could work it out and figure out a break-even point given the upfront cost and the savings of better fuel mileage plus the longevity of the diesel. But when it shits the bed at 167k with no warning, I've gotta reconsider my thoughts/conclusions.

The compelling interest to own a diesel in a light duty truck is diminishing. The initial cost is outrageous as are the secondary costs. I'll own another diesel, but it will be an older (6.4 or 6.0) ford or pre-03 dodge.

Not at all, and you don't have all the horseshit that the new ones have (DEF).
My dad told me that a lot of his customers are switching over to gas engines. The torque isn't there, but most are pulling short distances, and make do with the lack of power. Throw in higher fuel, oil changes, filter changes, DEF, DPF, etc and you'll never see a return on investment.

I'd like to find a clean quad cab, just for the kid's getting in/out, but will probably look at a 12v. Or I'll find another 6.0 and just prepare to build it accordingly.

I'm seriously considering a 12v swap next go around. I like my 10 F250 but the fuel economy, even deleted, is terrible. I just got a 14 F250 and so far it is the best all around truck I've ever imagined, but I'm not going to own it pass 100k miles. The first tank was almost 16 hand calculated, better than what I average in the 6.4.

I just sold my 97 12v. I bought it about a year ago. Never drove it, so I sold it.

You might think you want a 12v until you drive one... they just don't compare to a 6.4 or 6.7 V8 IMO
