  • 4v/5speed, wont start!

I did a 4v/5 speed swap on my 02 4r70w (auto)/2v. I try to start it and the car does nothing. fuel pump pumps, all light work. but does not want to turn over, nothing. can someone help me? I have done some research on this problem. they said it neutral safety switch (trs) I plug that in and put it where it said neutral and still have nothing. or if I can bypass the (trs sensor) any kind of help would be awesome I would love to get this thing on the road!!

Think simple at first, check your connections to the starter. The neutral safety switch could definitely be a problem.

Did you pull the engine or just swap heads? I forgot the ground wires that hook to the engine mount when I did my first swap and everything in the dash worked, but it wouldn't turn over either.

What is the PATS ? I bought 01 cobra motor. Pulled the old 2v and auto trans. Put a 4v 3650. If I ark the starter it will turn over but won't start

Computer out of the cobra or the 2v? Either way it's a bit more involved than simply swapping the engine/trans.

Sounds like the PATS to me. My brother and I did a Terminator swap on his '93 Cobra and the same thing happened. Disable the PATS and I bet it'll fire up.

Computer is out of the 2v. How do you turn off the PATS?

The pats shouldn't be an issue if you are still running your original ECM, Key and Tumbler, and Instrument Cluster.

The pats disables the fuel injectors from turning on, not the starter from what I remember. If it was a Pats problem the engine would crank.

Are you using your factory Underhood harness or the from the donor vehicle. The harnesses don't match up exactly. If you are using your factory harness, do as suggested above and all your connections and grounds. I'm not as familiar with the New Edge as the 96-98s. The factory auto transmission harness, I believe, has the rear o2 wiring, along with the MLPS (trans range sensor mounted on shift shaft), and trans solenoid wiring. The 2 wires that go the MLPS can be looped together to engage the starter. On manual cars the clutch switch is connected and the MLPS wires by-passed, on auto cars the clutch switch connector is bypassed and the MLPS connection used.

Got it to run if I ark the starter. It will stay running. Could be a ground problem I checked everything. Looks good and tight.

If it wont hit the starter with the key then something is messed up with the neutral safety switch

Problem lies in the mlp harness

I trying to find what wires to bypass so I can get start it. if anyone knows which two wires they are and where they are would help out a lot. I have been looking it up like a mad a man looking at the harness. shumpertdavid is trying to coach me through it and he is doing a good job be my lack experience is really showing.
