  • Loose steering -

My steering is wobbly- I thought it was the little rubber puck in the steering shaft - ( I bought a solid steering shaft to fix it) - nope -I removed the steering shaft and the steering wheel is still loose , even in the locked position !

    Ideas ?

    Thanks

None of that is connected - all pulled . To answer your question, it's in great shape . The wheel is loose without the shaft - no rack & pinion -

Aftermarket wheel? You might check the bolt in the center of the steering wheel that holds it onto the shaft, I've had one of those back out on me before.

rack is bad. My red 93 cobra was super loose. Put a autozone rack in it fixed it

It has no motor - no wheels - no rack n pinion - no no k member - it's all pulled .

So, something is loose from the steering wheel to the shaft mounting point 5" past the firewall -

The wheels should be locked , it has about 3 to 5" of play -

There are 2 mounting point under the dash. Make sure all the nuts are tight

its fairly common. google it and you should find some diagrams to fix. if memory serves me i believe there are some verticle bolts (and not the two that mount under the dash) that come in from the bottom (they are within the wheel assembly itself) that loosen up. they are kinda of pain to get to but the self helps on the net will describe the best way to to get to them.
