Best way to clean oil off parts

I always used brake or carb cleaner until I found Castrol super clean. Stuff works wonders (especially for how much it costs in comparison to brake or carb clean). I agree with the above, brake clean, or berryman's carb clean work great, but you'll go through a lot. The super clean is water based and you mix it yourself if you buy the gallon jug of it. Soak whatever you are working on, then hit it with water to rinse it off. It works a lot better than you would think.

That and some small bristle brushes or an old tooth brush for the crevices and you'll be good to go.

If you have caked on stuff, soak it then scrub with a plastic brush and rinse it. Repeat as necessary

Be cautious when breathing, and be careful with your eyes, even though it is water based it is still pretty harsh.

I believe purple power and simple green are water based too, but the super clean works so damn good I haven't tried either of them for car gunk.

X2 on the purple stuff in the spray bottle from dollar tree. For a dollar, makes your hands tingle if you don't wear gloves. Got my trans clean.
