Mustangs HEC.. What the hell am I doing wrong..

Ok so i tried it out on my 99 just for shits and giggles and it worked perfect.. Everything displayed like it should.. Now.. I came to my parents house and tried it on my moms 2005 GT and I dont know what the hell I am doing wrong.. Can someone please chime me in or maybe slap the sleep out of me.. It said to do it just like my 99 by inserting key ,holding the reset, then turning the key to power.. But on my moms I have to hold reset/setup and it starts giving me some weird crap.. Does the 2005 not display the same information like rpm's,mph and ya da yada..

I drive a black 99 and my mom drives the silver 05 gt. I don't live here its my parents house. Her GT is stock except for a flowmaster cutback. Where do you live
