Car is popping Detonating

I went & started it just now! The car sounds 90% ok. But it popped once in the 3 mins I was letting it run. But didnt pop as deep this go around. Car idled great this go around. Im hoping maybe its just the cold weather playing a part in this cause it has a big cam & the car is tuned on Mas Air & was tuned when it was warm weather

The cold air can sometimes throw the car off while in open loop for a little while, during warmup. When its extra cold out it could possible see a part of the table that you are not used to seeing or it is not tuned for. The pop you heard is more than likely a lean pop and is nothing to really worry about as long as it gets better once it warms up.

Im keeping my fingers crossed and knocking on wood & hope that is the problem. I did notice the longer the car ran is when the popping would start & get louder & deeper as it ran longer and seem to warm up

Be sure to check the oil and radiator for odd signs. We have had some really cold days this winter, and if there was no antifreeze in it, it could have froze.

I have seen an engine freeze and lift a head, but not even blow the head gasket and not even lose compression afterwards, but that was with a Nissan straight six in a Z car. was actually funny because it had a snot-green ice-cycle hanging from the block between the head and block, but sealed back up after it thawed back out.

Went & started it last night. Car actually idled alot stronger & the motor sounded like it was hitting on all 8 cylinders. It did pop & detonate a little as it ran longer. But I shut it off cause it was starting to get cold outside.

A guy on Tech suggested he had the same problem, He changed the plugs & did fresh gas & the problem went away. Then the cold weather came back again & the problem started all over. He said it ended up being his grounds

Well now I cant get the car to start. It turns over. But wont start! This car hasnt ran in 3 years & in sick of it just sitting. It already had a busted trans & now I have motor problems

I added up all my parts with my Kooks 1 7/8 Headers & 3 1/2 inch X-Pipe & TFS 215 Heads & with Fast 90/90 & all my bolt ons. I can part the car out for right at $8500 easy & still have the body. Im really thinking about throwing the towel in.

But I think it might be a simple fix too. I think its not getting Fuel or its not getting spark. Cause it sounds like it wants to start. Just sounds like its not getting fuel to the motor to run. I checked the Fuel Pump & I hear it prime & turn on.

Does anyone know where I can check & see if my fuel pump is working?

So it definitely cranks?

You need to get a fuel pressure gauge on it. Pull a spark plug wire and check for spark while someone cranks it over.

sounds like needs a fixed tranny and some dyno time to get the tune and A/F figured out.

What's your fuel pressure doing?

There should be a schrader valve within a foot of your fuel rails. Check your fuel pressure there with a gauge.
