I need to pull a F'n rear axel for my truck. Everyone wants to charge obscene amounts for rear end work and I don't think it will make the trip to see GreenBullit and co.
Do I need to roll into one of these places with my floor jack, jack stands, and a buddy? (Obviously I'll need my hand tools)
Or do they "loan" jacks/stand at all type of thing..WRX

Jacked it up, put in neutral, I can twist the drive shaft and somewhat replicate the clunk.
Driver side rear axle seal was leaking a bit. Popped open the diff cover, and I'm able to move the carrier with a screwdriver up and down a bit - it has play.
So I think the carrier bearings at minimum took a dump. I hear when this happens it can abnormally wear the gears, so they made need to be exchanged too.
I don't own a press and for all this work I figured it would be more of a fit for me to go pull a completely different axle off a wrecked one that is in the same year family, a 4X4, and the same gear ratio code.
It will drive just fine, but I don't trust the tick/clunck to drive it too far, and I'm in Rowlett.WRX

if you can find one in the yards at a you pull it type place, it's generally on wheel stands, so you'd just need to unbolt it and get it brought up front. There's some tag numbers that are important on those possibly, sent you a PM."If I asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses." - Henry Ford
