lol! Very, very far from that. I just search high and low for good deals, I don't shell out the dough for cool stuff.
The mach is slow, but I just want to have synchronizers...for once!

Too much money for me. I'm not going high HP any time soon. I'll have to be out of college with a real job and a house before that.

      I'd also get a T-56 over a TKO anything.

What kind of bell housing are you going to go with? I ran a Lakewood on my Cobra and had to trim some of the casting ridges off to get everything on right.

The TR3650 isn't a bad unit but it does have a well documented issue with 3rd gear grinds after about 70K on it.

anyone have any experience with a TKO600 and what the quality of the shifts are like? The T56 is a nice shifting trans. I just wish it was lighter!

IMHO, they suck for shifts. The 3550, 500 and 600 seem to be hit or miss. I had a 3550 built by slim, and it was nice and smooth. All the others (including the one in the 69) suck.

The only car I ever drove with a TKO sucked at shifting down low (notchy, like everyone says). "Radical" feel to it I guess. Up top it shifted like butter though, contrary to the TR3650s I have used.

I also want a short 5th gear. I hate the .62 OD in my current 3650

I had mine for a few years and liked it. Only downside was it didn't shift super smooth at lower speeds more of a solid clunk feeling. It was smooth and fine on the top end though and I wasn't overly fond of the shifter that came on it. Down at low speeds in 1st and 2nd eith low rpm's the it was a bit noisier than most factory jobs but that was expected going in.

You have to grind the trans crossmember holes a little, the TKO is a little farther forward if I remember right. Measure from the shifter mount to the floorboard before you pull the 3650 and compare it to what it is with the TKO. My T45 mounting pad height was different than the TKO and I had to space the mount to keep the driveshaft angles right. The driveshaft is too short, need a spacer or a 5/8-3/4" longer driveshaft. Get the good long chromoly yoke, it reaches more of the output shaft.

I put a tko 600 in my fox a few months ago and it is a clunky shifting transmission. It gets smoother the more miles you put on it. I will recommend a different shifter than what comes with it but I do not recommend the MGW for it. I have that one and really don't like it, its to damn short. I am going to put the Steeda Tri-ax shifter in it, I liked the Steeda on my T5 so I think that is going to be my best bet

I'll agree with the guys on the shifting, it is kinda clunky feeling till you get some miles on one and the shift effort is high enough, you have to watch how short the shifter handle is.

Like butter. However, mine is faceplated and it really is just a dragstrip only trans. It sucks ass on the street.

I've had a tko600 but was not faceplated, etc. The shifts sucked so bad. They definitively need the correct stuff in there for drag racing. For road racing im not sure if it's as important.

Mine shifts quite well when it matters, third is kinda of a pain WOT.

It is clunky at really low rpm but I don't notice a 6k. They are tough though.

I've got a GForce t5 that I need to get fixed and swap out the 600 now that the car is a HCI 302. the gforce shifted like a stock t5, just didn't like a 3300# car, slicks, and 393W/nitrous.
