  • Going Auto <1000hp! Need Advice

    Finally getting around to getting a YSi on my car and will ultimately want to make ~800rwhp. Time to go auto(tremec 3550 now) but I'm not as experienced with them. Any advice on the best bang for the buck 1000hp rated OD tranny would be greatly appreciated. 4L80E, AOD, 4R70? Manual valve body is what I'm thinking. Car is primarily just a street car that occasionally sees the track. Don't want an outrageous stall, just a very capable street/strip compromise.

    4r70 or 4l80 are both good choices

      4L80 might need a bit of massaging to fit in a fox tunnel.

          Who all is running a built 4R70W?? Price? Any problems going in a Fox??

                Just called Mike's and he's gonna call me back. Anyone have any advice on a good converter and recommended stall speed for street/strip use?

                    Check PTC, they will build it to your engine specs and needs basically. I run a built 4r70w behind my procharged dohc using a Baumann controller. Unfortunately, being plagued with various issues that have resulted in multiple engine failures, I haven't put more than a couple thousand miles on it since the swap. They do fit pretty well in a fox, we put one in an 89 coupe behind a 393 stroker.

                      Mike's Trick Shift said he would work on a quote for everything for me. Heard alot of good things about his trannys and converters. I will see what his price is like and go from there.
