Anyone know where I can get my steering column repaired? It is a tilt column from the mid 80's Chevy fullsize pick up. It is really loose in tbe tilt mechanism like it came apart on one side or something internally. I live in the North Fort Worth area.

It's a common issue, the 4 bolts that hold it together below the tilt portion have come loose. I generally tear it down, loctite the bolts and reassemble for $125. If you have a steering wheel puller and the pivot pin removal tool you can do it yourself with some patience.

This. I'm fixing to have to do it on my moms IROC and my Formula is starting to wiggle a bit. Not looking forward to it in the slightest.

Thanks, I read up on it a little, however, time and patience lately have escaped me.

The first time or 2 I did one was quiet nerve racking, my Regal was the 1st one I ever did. I think it took me like 5 hours, getting the high beam actuator components in place while I slid everything together was a chore. I was also @17 at that time and my abilities were a little less than they are now.

You might think about replacing the rod and rack while you have it torn down..
