  • I need a deutsch crimper

Who wants to loan me a deutsch crimper for 14-16ga open barrel connectors?
Need ASAP. I have looked online at napa, auto zone, o'reilly's, pep boys, northern tool, lowe's, home depot, and harbor freight.

If you want to drive to my place in Haslet off 287 and Bonds Ranch rd. I have a set you can get. I have three actually, don't ask.

But you will have to drive out there. I am out of town but can tell my mother in law you are coming and you can get them out of the tool box. Let me know.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

I have one in south Ft Worth. If your interested you can pick up at my work(5am to 2pm) or after at my house. Depending on what connectors you need I might have those as well.

The crimpers that are displayed in the photo will not crimp a Deutsch connector. They will work for a "Weatherpack" connector but not a "Deutsch".

Are you referring to the fact they do not clamp straight but at an angle back to front?

I have used these exact ones to crimp hundreds of pins for Deutsch connectors.

If no one else can help you then shoot me a PM. I have one at the office, but I'm in an airport right now. You probably won't find them local (well, maybe Allied Elec)... and they aren't cheap - like $300 if I remember correctly.

I get what you are saying but looking at the end result of the crimp from using both tools, can you see a difference? Serious question cause I am not doing this for a living like I have seen some of your stuff.

My ends have always been rolled tight into the wire crimping it very strong with the $35 tool. Granted, I have to crimp the bottom bare wire section then the insulation grip section seperately. So two crimps per end.

Don't get me wrong - I'm definitely not saying another way won't work in a given situation. It's just that if he is really wanting to do it by the book (like if its for a customer at his shop) then there is a "proper" way.

The Deutsch pins and sockets are barrel shaped and the wire slides all the way in. The crimper hits the barrel in 4 spots around the circumference and pushes in. The tool also has presets in it for different wire and pin/socket sizes to make sure you don't over or under crimp and risk a loose connection or a broken/weak barrel.

My "Duetsch" pins crimp differently to the wire than that. They are the all tinned looking piece with the open channel to lay the wire in, not a port which is what it looks like you have there.

So, now I am gonna look at their catalog again to see what they are called vs those you have there.

Edit: here are what I refer to as Duetsch pins

open vs closed barrel, the crimper I posted is for open barrel pins
