  • convert to v8 or not...

    The 2.3 in my coupe took a dump on me, it has been retired from daily duties and was going to be a back up car. I have the 5.0/ t5 from my 88 an extra wiring harness (92 5.0) and extra a9l ecm. Should i mess with converting or just throw another 2.3 in it?

          2.3's are cheap. Just toss one in and keep going unless you want another project imho.

            I have a complete 8.8 with 355 and the v8 front sway bar if you need it

              Kinda what I was thinking myself. Just throw a cheap 2.3 and keep driving it. Maybe converting it one day later on. Only reason I thought about converting it now is because of the motor trans and parts laying around doing nothing at the moment.

                Will the stuff from the 92 mesh with the 88? Mass vs Speed Density?

                    The motor and trans is from the 88 5.0 I have now, which has been sitting for a few years because it needs lots of work. My plan was to do a ground up build on the 88 because it's emissions exempt now. I also have an extra mass air wiring harness and computer laying around. Since the 4 cyl let go I figured I would either drop in another 2.3, or use the parts laying around and do a cheap 5.0 conversion.

                      depends do you want some power or is it just a car you drive and dont really need any more hp.

                        easy to swap to 5.0 Ive done atleast 7 complete conversion within the last year.

                            I think I am going to do it. I have everything I need for the swap and it won't cost me anything, which is the main reason I am doing it.

                              If i had all the parts laying around it would be a no brainer.... convert it. If i had nothing but a broken 2.3 i would find another not broken 2.3....
