  • 95 Flowersmoke engine trouble

    95 f350 7.3 turbo

Truck dies after driving it a distance and the filter light comes on then dies. Fuel filter has been changed many times and is clean.
You can fill the filter housing with fuel and it will start and run, but once it dies, the filter will be dry.
Pressing the Schrader valve on side of filter housing sprays fuel. Could it still be the fuel pump?

Saved and Texan by the Grace of God, Redneck by choice.

Make sure the fuel inlet from the pusher pump isn't clogged. I don't recall if they've got an auxiliary filter between the tanks and the main filter.

On some models, it's the only pump.

This! Check for cracked/broken fuel lines in between the lift pump and the tank
Make sure there is fuel in the tank...

im seeing sender problems with obs trucks now that theyre getting pretty old. its either that or the switching valve, they like to get stuck. also, default is the rear tank so even if youre on the front tank, if its in default and the rer is empty...well, you get it....

ps, ive seen the switching valves transfer fuel from one tank to the other. I would start with the valve...

had an OBS IDI that the dude spent more than the truck was worth (possibly even when new) fixing that dual tank BS
