As stated above, shocks and struts won't affect ride height unless they are an air shock or something of the sort. They function as absorbers. The amount of force that a new shock or strut exerts out is minimal when compared to the amount of spring pressure it takes to raise or lower the ride height.

However, after owning several sets of Eibach springs and being around cars for several years that have them, I can say that they will settle over time. You could very well have a spring that has collapsed or possibly some bushings in the rear that are causing the sag. If you feel the shocks and struts are shot then I'd replace them, but don't expect your lean to be majically fixed by this.

In doing auto repair for over 13 years I've had many customers come in for shock and strut replacement for various reasons of their choosing that didn't fix the actual problem. But you know what they say, The Customer Is Always Right.

check the upper control arm bushings at the top of the diff. Mine where shot on the driverside causing the car to lean about 1/2" down towards the drivers side. That was on a foxbody. Other than that its got to be springs or a bent frame.

shumpertdavid I was in the the same boat as you, the customer was always right and I loved to take their money! I finally gave up trying and took their money. I wanted to sell
diy brain surgery kits at one point.

I now believe some people need to go into the restroom with a Playboy rather than a car magazine as they will be more productive and satisfied!

Shock absorbers even hi pressure gas, still do not hold a car up!

I will say that I had air shocks on my 70 Nova and I could adjust the ride height up or down by adding or letting out air.

this is crazy on how diverse opinions are on this issue. shocks are shot anyway. so i'll do them first.
next i'll tackle the bushings on my control arms and see if that does it. if not we will try the springs. its not much but that half inch sag is killing me

fyi bushings will be the cheapest. But take the longest to swap out.

i figured as much. the car is drives like a boat and i can visually see the wear on the front tires associated with bad shocks/struts. thats why im starting there

In my opinion, if you have to do control arm bushings in the rear, spend a bucks and buy some tubular upper and lowers if it doesn't already have them, you'll be happy with the performance they give as far a launching and cornering feel.

You know one thing i havent mention until now for reasons i cant explain, is before i noticed the difference in height, i new if i took the right kind of turn (such as this sharp right into a pretty steep incline into a particular taco bueno) reagardless of how slow, you would hear something sound like it sprung open or pinged or something from the rear. I never paid much into cause i figured the control arms just struggled with that turn but maybe that gives some more insite to you guys?

My 04 did that, I pulled the wheel off and found that I had lost the bolt to the quad shock, so when it flexed alot the quad would come out of it's mount and catch on it.

You probably don't have quad shocks though.

if you are refering to the little bity baby shock that runs horizontalish to the ground . I still have em

I am.. Pull them off and see how that does. If you do aftermarket lower control arms you don't need them anyways.
