I have a spare distributor from a 5speed. My car was originally an automatic. On parts look up when searching for a module it asks which transmission. Does that matter? Are they interchangable? How are they different?
What thermal grease should I use? Where do I get it? I haven't ever seen any at autozone. Would artic silver 5 work? It's the best for CPUs on computers.
My knowledge tells me that if the module was bad it would/could be more of a heat related issue like on other cars, like a crank sensor. Part gets warm and expands causing a break in the circuit or to much resistance. Stop and wait for it to cool down and it would be fine until it warms up.
This is more random, and is cured by the flip of a key. What I don't understand is why would I t run rich unless it was something ECM related?
Get to work .

In refrence to the different TFi for auto vs manual trans, I don't think it applies to fox cars, but would matter after 1993 in mustangs. Staring in 94, the automatic transmission cars have the dwell time controlled by the ECM through the spout circuit to the TFI.Last edited by Diabolic; 08-22-2013, 08:22 AM.

went thru the lego playing process with everything from the ecu to the tunes and related sensors.
afr was pig rich and spark was skewed big in data logging on the r/t so i addressed the pick up and tfi.
problem solved.
if it's cutting off and not bogging it is spark related.
i am no rocket surgeon but something tells me that a hot cyl. can still flash fuel.
on another note, a weak fuel pump/relay can cause similar conditions but have a slight bog even at wot.

So even if I swap my ECM to my spare. the chip I have can still cause problems?
I'm about ready to buy all the stuff to datalog, need to anyways and maybe even stuff to burn me a new chip. Ill just need to access my current tune file to copy it over.
I have something similar to a jaybird.

If u want to datalog. I can sell u a quarterhorse and u will just have to buy a license for the software. ( This will let you edit the tune as well )
Or I can set you up with a different chip when I get intown. It doesn't matter to me. You can do a different chip/PCM combo then if it still does it you can swap out the TFI module / Distributer pickup.
