How many miles on the car? Like others stated, i'd leave the stock GT40 heads, 1.7 rockers, and Cobra intake and just add a cam. It'll keep the car close to stock and still run strong.

I got a quote from a place in Lewisville last year, can't think of the name at the moment, to rebuild a stock 302 was $350. It was a place that Paul (Greenbullitt) had recommended.

I noticed before i bought the car that it didnt have the GT 40 Heads, It had the stock GT Roller rockers not the 1.7 - I got a great deal though!!

I plan on getting it running, then buy all the parts little by little , then do a rebuild.

HE stated that the engine was in perfect running order when he started to pull it last year . He lost interested and thats how i got it.

I will tell you this.... I paid 35% less than his asking price. I would have paid the same amount if it was a roller.. IF it runs it will be a big bonus!!

In the very least I would pull it apart and inspect everything. If you just put it together you will never trust that engine and you will always think that it's a few seconds away from going boom.

I agree. Freshen up the short block.
I would go ahead and find some better heads if your budget allows. That is if they are only E7s.
