  • Question about painting over rattlecan primer

Is there any rattle can primer that i can use on bare metal prior to painting it with base coat / clear coat? This is for a tire carrier made of 3x2 rectangular tube, not very large, trying to keep all costs down.

Yes, sherwin williams makes a etching in a green/white can. I've used auto paint over it many a time. Its around $10 a can.

The SW stuff is good....Eastwood has an etching primer that is good out of a rattle can as well.

Holy hell its gone up, but a can will go a long way.

Watch the tip if you are spraying a lot as it gums up and starts spraying chunks.

turn the can upside down and blow a bit out to clear the tip from time to time, especially if you are done and putting it on the shelf.

              Fuck $18 a can.

              Dupli-Color has a pretty good self-etching primer in a rattle can at O'Reilly's for $6.99 a can.

^^ This, I have used the dupli-color multiple times without issue. Just make sure and prep correctly..
