  • Getting the Cobra back....Time to scheme




    This was discussed a while ago when I bought the red car. But it is time again.
    Car is a roller. No motor or tranny. That is what I'm trying to decide. This time I've got a daily so there is no rush on the build. Here are the different routes. car will be a daily and will remain a manual. I don't want an auto.

    Lsx/T56- H/C turbo (Like Turborails car) I think this setup will make my 550rw goal without internals. I think the LS would be a cool swap and would make good power but finding the components at good $$ is getting tougher.

    Fox 5.0/ MMR Tranny - H/C/I turbo- I think this will be cheaper than the Ls setup, but will need to be forged and won't make as much power.

    Rebuilt & forged Mark 8 motor- MMR tranny Turbo- This is probably the safest bet.
    All the exhaust/PCM will all bolt right up.




    What do you guys think??

    Why not just get a cobra motor and turbo that

    Or get a block and do it how you want. Go big or go home

      It's all only time and money. Like you stated, going back with a mod motor will be safest and easiest from a "it bolts and wires in stand point". The ls stuff is really popular and sounds great when talking about it, however, there are a lot of little things that play into it as you put the car together. The k member is an easy swap with Aje's stuff, the wiring would be your biggest concern and as long as you are patient, have good diagrams, and an understanding of basic electronics you can probably tackle it.


      Again, it's only time and money.

          03 cobra engine, any roots, factory 03 cobra trans with 26 spline, 600+ RELIABLE hp
