    I have used Ultra Gray RTV in the past, whats the best thread sealant for the head bolts where they run into the water jackets?

          I use the liquid thread sealant from loctite. Not sure on the number.

          Rtv would alter your torque readings wouldn't it?

            You should see my torque wrench. It's badass! Looks a hell of a lot like a ingersoll impact gun. Lol


            Op. give loctite anaerobic sealant a go. Shit works on everything!

              Anaerobic is awesome. Never used on head studs though! Though i have used as thread sealer...may try that one sometime

                Honesty it seems that stuff will work on any application, high heat (think water cooled turbos) down to oil pans that won't quit leaking.

                    I have always used #2 permatex. That brown shitty smelling stuff. Never had a leak.

                      We used that permetex thread sealant w/ PTFE ...worked great. Item number 80632. I'm not sure if its glycol resistant but that's what your going to really want

                        My engine building buddy always uses permatex Indian head sealant, swears by it and I've never heard of an issue.
