  • Wanting to put a 351W in my car, what do I need ?

Ok, so obviously I'll need a block. Which blocks accept roller cams ?

I want to stay fuel injected, so which FI intake is good to use ?

I know I'll need an oil pan, motor mounts, headers, maybe hood ?

Aren't the distributors different from 302 to 351 because of the difference in deck height ?

The engine that's currently in the car is a GT40 crate motor, with GT40 aluminum heads 1.7RR's, E-cam, Cobra upper/lower with 24lb injectors, MSD billet dist, and probably some other shit I'm forgetting.

I'm assuming the heads/intake I have would be too small for a 351...?? The engine I have in the car uses some oil, so I would probably just pull it and see what it needs, freshen it up, then sell it to re-coup some of the money spent on the Windsor. Any problems putting the T-56 behind the 351 ?

Anything I'm forgetting ? Any tips ? Anywhere in particular I should be looking for the swap parts ?

How much power do you want to have? I only ask because a 302 based motor may do all you need. Besides, if you're going to swap in a different motor there are better choices these day with more bang for the buck.

Man, I would REALLY like to swap an LS motor in my car. Especially after seeing your car.

What kind of money do you have tied up in the swap, if you don't mind me asking ? If you don't mind, and don't want to say on here, you can PM me if you like.

Would I be able to use the T-56 I've got, and just swap the input shaft, or would I be better off selling the whole combo and buying an LS/T-56 to put back in the car ?

just the block, and main caps, no crank, rods or pistons all the machine work has been done, line honed and bored.030..Fresh hone..It came out of a 94 ski nautica boat but it is the exact same motor they put in the 93-5 lightinings, f250 trucks and vans.

I have done this swap and currently have a 351 EFI in my coupe... there are some ways to do the swap and make it pretty cheap. It isn't too hard either.

I recondition headlights on most cars for $50.00. If interested shoot me a pm.

You can't beat a car someone built with something you bought.

short block, pan, headers, intake, distributor and drop motor mounts, hood clearance is going to be a concern. I seem to remember a stock hood...
