There needs to be no pressure, back side of the cam lobe so you can get an accurate torque.

I know mine were really noisy when I first started mine up, I had to drive it around for like 30 minutes, I even went back and reset my preload twice. Then I just realized, I have roller rockers and they're going to make some noise.

You shouldn't have any vetirtical movement in the pushrod, but you should be able to spin it with your fingers, this is with piston at tdc.

Yeah there's some vertical play in the pushrods I just can't figure out why.

That's weird man. Unless your lifters collapsed or something I'm out of ideas.

did your car ever overheat when you blew the head gasket?

No it burnt the headgasket between the number two and number 3 cylinder. Just had no compression on those two cylinders

How many times did you torque the heads down? When I did mine I wasn't in any big hurry at all, I think the torque on mine were 75lbs. I did 20lbs waited 30 minutes, did 45 waited again and went back with final torque. To make sure the gasket is compressed to insure a proper torque reading. I did the same on everything that had a gasket.

Probably wasted a lot of time but it's been flawless since first start.
