  • Best stock 351 heads?

Whats the best casting to look for? its just a stock 351 stroke. .030 bore... maybe thinking of throwing a cheap KB dome in it. Just need some mild performance. I have a set of E5AE heads that came with it. It will be getting a flat hyd cam. Probably one of the summit deals. I'll probably wind up just throwing the E5's on it because I have them but I have a few "places" that I could get some old school heads cheap/free I'd just need to know what to look for. I could have access to some DOxx heads if they're any better than the E5's

Why limit yourself to stock heads? You can find cheap after market heads pretty easy. A set of nice Dart Sr's would rock on an old school 351W setup.

Lightning 351W GT40 heads or D0OE/C9OE 351W. The Lightning head already has hardened valve seats which the others don't. 302 GT40 or GT40P heads would work too, but need drilled to accept the 351W larger head bolts.

If you find D0OE or C9OE make sure they're 351W's and not the 302's. 351W or 302 will be cast into the head in a couple of places.

When I see someone talking about 4V closed chamber I think 351 Cleveland because there were two made (closed and open chambers). 351W are all closed chamber and were installed on 4 barrel and 2 barrel carb engines. There is no such thing as a stock 351W open chamber that I know of.

There's a couple sets of 351w D0OE on craigslist right now.

Title only said 351, he didn't specify w or c so the 4v would be the best between the two.
