  • Drag tire size question(s)

Ok... I understand that wider tires give more traction....

What's the advantage of taller tires? How does the height of the tire factor in to traction?

The tallness effects your final drive ratio.

If you run a shorter tire, it's going to act like you have steeper gears, taller tires will make your gears seem longer.

If your tire is tall it can help reduce wheel spin as it just takes "more" to turn something larger.

It doesn't take a wide tire to get traction either. There are plenty of people getting it to the ground on a skinny tire, your set up will decide what tire is best.,

For low powered cars the smaller the better because the less tire you have, the less tire you have to turn.

I found a set of 26x6x15 et streets. Lol I want to try them out! But I think a 26x8 or 8.5 would probably work the best if the suspension was there.

IMO if you can't get your shit together with a 10 inch wide tire then something is wrong.

Look at the 275 class, most are 275/60/15 which is close to a 28x10x15. Or a 275/50/15 which is close to a 26x10x15. Thousands of horsepower, tiny tire lol

The larger sidewall can also help eat up some of the shock to the tire especially in a stick car . It has a trade off on the top end stability also . The shorter tire wont move around as much .

          lol

a taller tire but the same width will always give a larger patch on the ground for more traction.
