  • Fox sct boost tuning

I just bought a coupe with a vortech v1 with a chipped ecu. Car acts funny at 0-5 psi then comes alive from 5 -15 psi. The car came apart on the drive home when I bought it and since that has a larger cam and heads than it was bought with. It looks to be an sct chip and i was wondering who can properly tune this or should I pull the chip? My previous foxes had no issues like this with stock computers. Any advice appreciated.

It's a V2 blower if that makes any difference.

The chip can be reflashed. I'd pull it for now, throw an FMU on it, and manually lock the timing to 16 or 18 until its tuned.

No fmu. It has a full aeromotive system, and msd btm to pull timing. There is no detonation. It'll hit 10 on the wideband while trying to creep the boost up and clear up to around 12 when its at full boost. I am going to pull the chip or try my a9p thats on the shelf. Running an a9l right now.

Yes but you have no idea how much timing is in the SCT tune to begin with. If the AFR's are in the 10's then 12's it needs some work. Does it have meth or an IC'er? I would want to know what my timing was exactly if I was going to run 15#'s of anything on pump gas in this summer heat, and I dang sure wouldn't want to see AFR's in the 12's. I've been running 14-17#'s safely on the street for many miles now. I even tow a small 2000 trailer on occasion. I like to see my Lambda at .77-.78 or roughly 11.2 on the wb. Total timing from 3000 and up is 18 degrees. I have an IC though.

That is why i asked who can tune the chip. I am looking at wot not cruise 14-17 at wor is no bueno. This is my third one with similar mods the first 2 i built and tuned by myself with no issues even in the heat. I only drive it for short tuning trips so far. Pulled the chip and went rich across the board, took some fuel pressure out an it seems better. I guess it will just take a little more tuning time.

So why would you target a lambda of .86 with a SC? That just doesn't make sense to me at all. It's too lean and with 15#'s of boost and no IC your intake temps are going to blow up past 200 degrees so fast it isn't funny. I'd run that AFR in the 11.2-11.5 range. You maybe would give up just a few hp.

Don't get me wrong i'm not claiming to be an expert thats why i'm looking for input. I just know what wotked best on my last ones. Im still learning, i am a carb guy!

I would keep the AFR's in the 11's or keep a supply of 9333PT1's on hand.

Worst gasket ever for boost, although cheap. Lol

Rather blow a gasket than a piston. Absolutely nothing wrong with them for 95% of all applications. You blow em then you need to check the tune. I've only blown one in my life and my fuel pump failed.
