Heater core bypass - CFI car question

Bypassed the heater core on this 85 T Bird. It still has the CFI (until I can get some time and parts)...Anyway, I FAILED to notice an additional coolant line coming in from the CFI unit to the heater core line...Picture here:


I comes off the CFI unit here and the other side loops to the intake on the drivers side...


So , being a Chevy guy...WTF. Should I just T it back into the coolant line I bypassed or can I cap it at the manifold ? What purpose does it serve ? Does it cool the CFI unit somehow?
