I have always used 3m roloc bristle discs, anyone ever had a bad experience with them?

For steel I use the standard scotchbrite. I use bristle on aluminum.

i like to use a scraper to get majority of the stuff off, then i have a large sanding block i use as a flat surface to attach sand paper to and clean the rest of the surface off. After that a little brake cleaner and a microfiber rag to clean off the residue and done. No worries of minor imperfections, surface is nice and flat and ready for a gasket
