We don't want to cut the bed, no bags in the future. Just a 4/6 drop and a 70mm turbo with a 4l80 and a stall w/ some 4.88s is the plan.

My next door neighbor growing up c-notched his own late-model financed truck by himself in the driveway one weekend when he was probably 21-ish. Looked like quite the undertaking.

EDIT - Oh Shit, I take that back, he did way more than that. He cut the frame off and welded an arch into it so the truck could could lay lower on the bags he was installing. Had to cut/weld a "speed bump" shape into the bed as the axle would've hit otherwise. That's why I remember that being such a big deal.

i read that, and thought man thats steep. but i dont know anything about turbos in heavy trucks.

I was going to run a 4.10 in my turbo 05, but I ran 3.27's in my turbo fox. Has a lot to do with weight, tire height and trans gearing/stall (more than that, but those were my main deciding factors).

I was talking out of my ass on the 4.88s, me and him had mentioned that when he was wanting to do cam/lts and spray.

I was thinking keep the 3.42s and run a short tire for racing.

Ok, at 6" in the back he needs a c-notch for sure or he'll be riding the bumpstops. These trucks are already short on travel when lowered with a stock style setup. I was 6/8 maybe 7/9, c-notched, with a Mcgaughys drop spindles, flip kit, springs up front and short stroke shots all around. It was still rough, but that's how I like it. I would go with a welded notch or the bell/Mcgauhys bolt in notch and Mcgaughys kit for sure. The drop spindles are worth it because the front geometry was way out of wack without them.
Other than that, if he want's to run a small sidewall tire the ride will get worse as he goes down in size obviously. The install isn't too involved, some people leave the bed on will the notch the frame.
