  • Motor internals ?

Was there a difference on the internal short block parts on an 85 5.0 in a T-bird and Mustang ? or were all the power improvements in the heads ? I just picked up a 85 bird and was curious if I could pick up the hp with just heads/intake.

The cams different in the tbird it should have a flat tappet cam instead of the roller in the mustangs. It may have provisions for the spider for the roller cam thats in the mustang. If your looking for performance get as far away from cfi as possible.Id go carb personally.I believe they have the same heads but don't quote me on that.

Yeah, I wanna ditch the cfi. Been reading up on that. Was wondering if I would benefit from some heads/cam, just wasn't sure what the internals on that engine were. It's a clean old gal. Was looking for a 4 eye stang when I found this

yeah i saw that on craigslist i wanted it myself. if your looking for a butt load of information on these cars go to foxtbirdcougarforums.com personally id try to find some gt40's and if you switch to carb depending on your cam choice id go with a performer rpm intake.

She's a beauty! Forget the CFI or carb, convert to SEFI & drive that thing!

Yeah that'd be cool but, you'd have to find the harness from a tbird as the mustang won't work with out alot of modifications from what I was told.
