  • Ac accessory bracket bolt

I am having an issue with the double sided, long bolt that holds the Ac bracket on and threads into the head. It is giving me a little trouble getting it off. Vise grips keep slipping off and I was curious if there was a trick to getting it loose.

pipe wrench or grind flats to use a regular wrench on it, you can also double nut the stud to wrench it out.

I attempted to double nut it last night before I posted. When I turned the bottom nut, it eventually got loose and just spun while the nut didnt move. Should I tried another nut?

make sure both nuts are pretty tight against each other, you can then hold both wrenches and turn them counterclockwise. If they aren't tight enough then they will just spin as the bolts stays still. Do let it soak with some penetrating lube where it screws into the head. I let my sit and soak over night.

I sprayed it last night pretty good. Is the idea to hold a wrench on the top nut to hold it still while you turn the bottom but counter clockwise?

You can think of it that way. They've got to be pretty tight. Focus on snugging the two nuts together first, then try spinning the back bolt counter to loosen the whole bolt, while holding a wrench on the front bolt just in case it tries to loosen. Where do you live? If you're close I could help.

I had one so tight it ended up just threading the plug out of the head. Pipe wrench, big pipe, and ive been known to use a handheld torch to warm things up a bit.

Success! I double nutted it after letting it sit soaking for the night and pulled on the nut while also turning a pair of vise grips. Little booger was on there
