If you're not getting a CEL, I'd be worried - especially considering it's a stock motor.
Like mentioned above, I'd be looking for a broken ring land. Most cars will run fine like that, but lack some power. Did you gap that one plug back properly? If the gap is too wide, it will misfire like a mofo.
I'd ask around for someone who has a bore scope so you can check the pistons.

If you get desperate, come to Rowlett, I have a scanner that reads live misfire data. I have found it's hit or miss on some vehicles though, I used the misfire counter recently on an F body but for some reason I'm thinking it doesn't have the live misfire data for Ford. I will have to look and see.sigpic

..I forgot one thing. When a car 'misfires', 99% of the time it shows lean. Usually by way of big spikes in the AFR. This is because raw oxygen is pumped out the exhaust (not being consumed by combustion) and is picked up by the 02 sensor as 'lean'.
So, if you are truly seeing 'rich' spikes it's one of two things, it's the ECU trying to correct the lean condition that it's really seeing OR You have another problem.
Also, one last thing, if you are seeing any movement on the guage as far as AFR is concerned, what ever you've seen has already happened many milliseconds ago - the problem has already come and gone and the damage, if any, has likely been done.

thank you very much for the responds but i replaced the plugs and coils and she runs fine again. do i still need to be concerned? she doesn't seem to be down on power, and about the closed plug, i carefully looked at the end of the plug and didn't see any marks on it like something hit it. it was just bent down.

I would be a little concerned with it being so hot and this happening around the time of year it started getting hot. How sure are you that the tune is spot on?sigpic
