  • valve spring question

How do you choose what valve springs go good with a specific cam. I'm installing a tf stage one cam on gt40s with 1.6 rr's

I am dealing with the same issue, for a drop in replacement, you don't have a whole lot of options. I'd go with the Crane 44308-1 kit. If you want to machine the head, set it up for ls1 valve springs and get some PSI LS1511ML springs for it.

Then i'd go with that crane kid for mild applications, ed curtis has a nice PAC spring kit if you wanna get a bit wild.

Your cam manufacturer should be able to recommend a spring for you, that's what I'd do.

If you want to cut your valve seats, I have some brand new Comp Cams double springs that I'd be willing to let go. I'm not going to use them. They were bought to use with a Wolverine 1087 cam which is pretty similar to the TFS 1 cam.

Other wise, I think the only spring kit still available that'll fit with no machine work is the TFS spring upgrade kit.

Here's what I'm using with GT40 heads, Crane/Cobra 1.7 rockers and Crane 2031 cam on my '92 LX:

Don't use the teflon valve seals that come with the kit though. Just get Fel-Pro valve seals from O'Reillys.

I second this . I have used them on multiple builds with great results . Easy and complete kits .
