  • Tell be about excursions.

With the addition of a third kid we are looking to replace the cherokee with an excursion. What's everyone's experiences with them?
We won't be doing any towing to speak of, maybe light trailers, a small boat. So I'd it still worth it to go diesel vs gasser?
What years to stay away from? Years recommended?
    Looking to spend 6-8k.

7.3 and look to spend at least 10-12. The benefit is better mileage though.

Don't even think about a V10, they are half the price for a reason. They will fuck you directly in your non-research doing ass.

I loved mine. It was a V10. Could get 14-15 mpg on the highway but usually about 12mpg

Plenty of room. Comfortable and with some 20" F250 wheels it looked good

Have you looked into a Expedition or Suburban? Excursions are for people with 20 kids or small penises. Maybe I should look into buying one...

I would shoot for an expidition. The excursion is just flat out massive.

We've looked into an expedition, the '03s are I our price range. We're just concerned about interior room. 3 kids in car seats (4/2/week old) we are worried about having enough seat room for the car seats.

an expy will fit you all well, i drove one all over the US with 150+k on it and my only complaints were electrical in nature.

that said, the triton 5.4 is in many ways a ticking bomb.

Pulled a trailer to slidell, la with a 7.3 excursion had @ 200k miles, pulled trailer back with car on it. Averaged 22-23 mpg over whole trip, it had an air intake, tuner, and muffler delete iirc. Rode great, drove great, pulled great.
