Yeah, total BS. Ford techs are stupid and can't tell.

I tuned one from enterprise with a 150 shot of nitrous. Loved it. Highly recommended.

If anyone is even remotely thinking about getting a tune hit me up and I'll take you for a ride in my truck. I just got the latest from SSI and when I was test driving it I punched it from a 40 roll and it broke the tires loose to the point that the TC had to kick in. Simply amazing. Oh and I still knock down over 21mpg in the highway.

I came really close to going by after I went to the gym last night. I've been once before and had a great time. I'm pretty sure we live within 5 miles of each other so we can do it anytime.

If I am not mistaken (and admit I could be), thanks to the Moss-Magnuson act the dealership has to PROVE that the modifications caused the issue/failure, not just make a blanket denial because a modification ~may~ cause an issue/failure.

Hey, got some pretty good anecdotal evidence on the Ecoboost. I was one of the guys trashing the engine as we got one of the first ones for our safety director at work and it gave us some problems initially that the dealership couldn't fix. Turned out it was coil packs and that moisture due to the design problem Ford initially had that they finally fixed. Anyway, our safety director got those problems fixed with around 60-70k miles on the engine.

Anyway, our safety director now has 215k miles on the engine/transmission and it's still plugging away with no issues of note since then. Obviously, he drives a lot, he tows flatbeds with some serious weight sometimes and he takes care of his truck, but isn't easy on it at all.

So, I now revise my original negative impression of the 3.5 Ecoboost and give it two thumbs up. It's turned out to be a good engine. Our safety director wants to drive it to about 250k miles before getting another truck. At his rate of driving, that's another few months.

Thanks for posting that, great info on the ecoboost at higher mileage. Any other issues with the truck other than the coil packs?

Nope, truck still has original engine/tranny and no major repairs at all. Mileage still isn't great, but as I mentioned he drives it pretty hard under boost probably frequently. Otherwise, it's still solid.

Our safety director mentioned to me the other day that one of our field guys asked him if he got a new truck and he laughed and said he had just washed it. It has newer off-road tires, a big brush guard and we bought him a Lariat with that nice pearl white color since he drives it so much. Anyway, I saw it and from the outside you'd have no idea at all it has that many miles. It's clean.
