Trying to help a buddy on which way to go with his motor build. And would like some feed back.

347 stroker with Afr 185 heads 11.5 compression.
We are having trouble deciding which way to go with solid roller or hydraulic roller. The block is stock. Would still like to drive it ever once in awhile. Maybe 50 mile round trip once a month.

His dream is 6.50s on the bottle.

His car specs
10 point cage
South side uppers and lowers
Complete upr k member a arms coil overs. Manual brakes
8.8 rear end with 31 spline axles 3.73 gears.
Trans a c4 with a brake and 4k converter.

Solid roller that thing! If its not gonna be a daily, he can live with the littłe valvetrain noise and maintainence it'll have. The extra power is worth it in an application like that.

Don't even bother with that stock block.

Buy a good block now and have less headaches later. If you split that block, its WAY MORE Expensive than you just buying a block up front. You can really trash your heads, rods/crank/pistons, cam, etc....
