I had a great time despite my car being the slowest by far... really far, even less than the bone stock Nissan 370Z. Disappointed doesn't being to describe it.

It was good meeting new people and putting some faces to the names. Brooks, thanks for the great hospitality and friendly atmosphere.... and the grub.

You're welcome man, glad you could make it out. Technology has came a long ways since 1996 (?), smaller engines, better cylinder heads and awesome electronics help a LOT!

Thank you. It's getting there. FWIW, that compliment almost felt like you were telling an ugly girl she has a nice personality

Sorry I didn't introduce myself. I'm not sure who you were.

The downside to dyno days and car shows is that the best of the best tend to show up, and us guys with nice daily drivers or project cars that arent finished tend to look like a bunch of chumps. Your car looks nice, period.

I was working the smoker and grill while you were there. I didnt get a chance to walk around and do much chatting until much later in the day.

What surprised me the most was my Dad's 100% bone stock '13 Genesis 5.0 sedan put down 382rwhp. It's rated at 429hp crank, so it appears Hyundai is sandbagging a bit or they have a heck of an efficient 8-speed automatic (not likely).

Also, my buddy ran his '13 BMW M5 (new twin turbo V8 powerplant) and he put down 521rwhp with just a muffler delete exhaust. Not bad for a car rated at 560hp crank (clearly BMW underrates their engines for some reason).

That BMW was sick! I was shocked that it made that much hp.
I didn't introduce myself to many ppl...I had the "Ford" shirt...and the grabber blue 11 GT. I was pretty pleased with the power it made...408 hp and 399 tq. Numbers were within a few hp/tq on each run, and it actually picked up on the 2nd run. I thought I overheard Brooks mention that it pulled pretty good even from 2500 rpm in 5th gear

There were a lot of cars that surprised me. The M5 was simply sick, no other way to put it. I had to have a quick tutorial on how to dyno that thing!

The part to remember about MY dyno is that for dyno days we use what is called a "snapshot" with a "locked ratio". Cars with automatics, especially with stall converters, will 'trick' the dyno since we aren't using an inductive pickup or an optical pickup. The Fbodies (with stalls) were the worst to get the 'right' numbers out of because most of them have HUGE converters. That's why the runs started so high compared to the others.

The snapshot ratio relies on the first pull to be 'accurate'. That's why I redid some of your dyno pulls to ensure that the numbers were good. The software takes the first pull and assumes that you (I) started the pull at exactly the number I said in the software (that's why I asked a lot of you where your car cruises the smoothest rpm wise.). If the pulls are started off earlier or later than what was entered in the software, it skews the resulting numbers... and if you have the snapshot ratio locked, ALL of the pulls (for that car) are off X amount. Now, those numbers are still close as long as the pulls are reasonably close to what was entered. Like, something in the 1-2% range. Jason's stock 2013 was within a few hp of Justin's car a few days prior. If time weren't so important on days like that, we'd use the RPM pickup for accuracy - but it's a pain to setup every car, especially when they are hot.

I didn't meet you either, but I saw your car run on the dyno right before I left. I also saw the base sticker on your car. Thanks for your service! Your car ran strong and IIRC, your 1st run was 390ish and then your next two runs were within 1rwhp of each at 408ish. That's some good consistency, especially on a hot day.

Yeah, my Dad's Genesis and my buddy's M5 are both heavy cars. I think my Dad's car is rated around low-mid 13's, so it's not a rocketship, but for $40k plus TTL for a brand new loaded Genesis 5.0 sedan is a heck of a lot of car for the money for sure.

My buddy's M5 has tested at high 11's - low 12's right off the floor in magazine tests. Not bad for a 4,200lb+ piggy. Trap is around 120mph too, so it gets up and goes. Coolest thing on the car though is that dual-clutch transmission. Instant, rifle shot upshifts and downshifts that are also butter smooth. You don't even feel them. Love that transmission.

Anyway, thanks again, Brooks. One of the best run dyno days I've ever attended.
