  • 2008 f450 6.4L heater issue

any of you ford techs seen any water pump isuue's on these things...? i have one that wont heat worth a damn unless the motor is revving..barely has any coolant coming out of the supply line to the heater core...rev it up and it will pump some coolant. radiator is cold too, except for the drivers side tank. any issues with the impellers slipping on the shaft..? engine operates at normal temp by the way

I have seen a lot of thermostats sticking open on the 6.4's. Usually it will set a code though. I have also had a couple of them with stopped up cores with high miles on them. If you find that the tstats are stuck open you will need a half day to replace your first set.

Could be a number of things. Yes, the t-stats have problems on these trucks. If run too long like this it can cause timing cover cavitation that causes turbulance in the cooling system and the coolant wont flow. May not be anything that dramatic but i would have it checked out.

Put it back together with a new thermostat and post updates.

Also, double check the plastic water pump impeller for cracks around the shaft.

no recall for the radiator that I know of. It really sounds like a tstat problem. Did you test them?

There are several tsb's for the radiator and they all stem from t-stat failures. Regardless of leaking radiator, if the coolant level is correct you should have coolant flow.

new T-STATS.....i can get it to blow warm air by revving the engine. u let it go to an idle and it blows cold...again,i have had all of the heater hoses off,the water pump out and cannot find a damn thing wrong with it. im fixing to burn this motherfucker,it will make some heat then,,,,
