  • MAF causing car to stall?

Figured it was easier to take a video then try and explain what its doing. Ive tried 2 different MAFs, 1 prom 19lb and 1 stock sn95 maf, same outcome with both.
    mods are
    trickflow trackheat intake
    gt40p
    e303 cam
    EGR/smog removed
    Pro-m Maf housing
    Mail order tune
    New cap/rotor/PIP/plugs/wires
    Set TPS/idle

    Any input?

Please excuse the quality, Cell phone + photobucket = not the greatest. And im an idiot and cant figure out to to embed videos.

We had one doing the same thing . Would run with the plug undone and stall with it conected . If you pedaled it with it connected it would pop thru the intake . Turned out to be the injectors (Thanks Greenbullit) . The limp mode with the plug out leaned it enough to idle but with it connected one of the injectors was hung open and flooding it . We swapped in an old set and it ran perfect .

What does the check engine light say the problem is?

Codes for the EGR, i just havent gotten a chance to send the chip back in for a tune yet.

dumpycapri85 - thanks for the suggestion, how exactly did you figure out it was an injector? Mine will die as soon as you go over ~25% throttle

          code S for the egr.

Sounds like a pretty good guess on your part. Try actually pulling the codes instead of guessing as to what you think they might be. I bet there are more fault codes in the bank, then just fault codes for the egr.

This is part of the issue with mail order tuning. The tuner can't take into account every issue with your car. All they have to go off is what you tell them.

Unless your tuner is dialed in to your car remotely on the dyno, you are going to have issues like this with mail order tuning.

Little bit of history, the car ran fine since i bought it, aside of the surging idle every now and then. It even made the ~500 mile trip to here from missouri without even a hickup. Then about 2 months ago it started breaking up under acceleration, ran codes, got EGR fault codes (31 & 32 KOER) and a PIP code (14 KOER). replaced the PIP/cap/plugs/wires 2 weeks ago to no avail. ran codes again and all i got were 31 & 32 again.

Called a buddy and he sent me a maf to try out to eliminate that possibility (i mean whats the chances of 2 bad mafs in a row, right?) no luck. Threw new O2 sensors on thinking maybe they were bad and the OBD wasnt picking them up. nada. So that leaves me here.

We swaped everything you could think of including the computor . We had the same problem that you described in the last post . The car ran fine and then started to develope a miss . It got worse over a short amount of time until it got to the point that it would not rev up smoothly without poping . I was out of ideas so I pm'ed Greenbullit and he suggested the injectors . I had a few old sets so we yanked the upper and swapped em and bingo , it ran great . Its just a suggestion for a like poblem but Jet is right about checking all codes .
