Had the trans temp light come on today. All sorts of issues. Slipping, coming out of gear, etc

Have the fluid flushed and filter changed. I didn't read the whole thread to see if anyone said anything about that. That happened to my B3000 pickup in town (wouldn't go over 5mph in 1st without completely slipping), so I slowly made it to a transmission service place, and had that done. Worked like a dream after that (200k+ miles on original trans)

That's literally the worst thing to do to an old worn out transmission.

Flushing will cause varnish to break loose and stick in the shift solenoids. Best thing is to drop the pan change the filter and fill with oem type fluid. Do not use any high milage high detergent type fluids.

It is. It was just a last ditch effort, and it worked great. So fuck you, I'm right!

A clogged filter will cause the transmission to slip because there is not enough pressure...

Yes, but there is a difference between a filter change and a flush. Changing the fluid and filter is fine, flushing the system is not.

Fluid was very clean (had been changed often I guess). A neighbor bought the truck months after that happened and it still has not had a single problem. Usually they slip right after getting it performed if there is going to be an issue.
Just change the filter, and fill it to the correct level.
