  • PATS pain in my a$$

I've got a mechanic who doesn't know much about it and doesn't want to know much about it. I'm currently in northern florida around the Tallahassee area and was wondering if anyone knew where I could take my car (98 mustang) to get my pats bypassed and get it running. I've dropped a 2000 4.6 into it and pats shut everything down so I just got the tuner plugged into it and it still wont run.

    uhhh....

I would start by checking out some Florida based Mustang forums.

You can shut it off with an SCT tuner. Swapping the engine shouldn't have pissed it off, are you sure that it's PATS?

I had Andy disable PATS on my '03 for just this kind of scenario. The transceiver ring in the steering column (or the key) likes to go bad on these cars and leave you stranded. Your PATS is probably disabled due to the instrument cluster not matching what's in the PCM. The Bus is tranceiver > odometer/cluster > PCM. If it's a match, start. If not, THFT DET VEH IMMOB
