ok here i go. i built a 302 new everything. it is a 93 block. has a b303 cam,air gap intake,600 summit carb. my issue is i have a small i mean small amount of oil that i guess is coming out of the rear main and from crank seals. i am not sure y this is. any ideas would be helpful. i do have the stock 93 valve covers on the motor could that just be causeing was to much pressure in the block? should i put a set of valve covers that have the hole for the breather? if i blow into the spout on the valves on it now i get a hissing noise. is this normal or what should i try to do?

Do you have a pcv set up. My Jeep with the 302 pushed oil out the rear main until I set one up on it. On the highway it was terrible.

No all I have is the ugly stock 93 covers. I know on my 84 I had one side hade the oil fill spot and the other side cover had the spot for the pcv or the oil breather thing. Should I buy a set of those covers and that fix the issue.

I am not the pcv expert but others will chime in. Supposed to help your rings seal and multiple other things.

you have to have some type of crankcase ventilation whether a pcv or just breathers. A pcv will help ring seal.

I'm ignorant to the whole PCV topic also, but is it really that necessary? I know a stock motor has a PCV system but where does that system really relieve pressure? In the stock sys. it ventilates back into the throttle body so where is the actual relief? All the stock sys. is doing is moving the pressure around in a loop. Someone educate me(us) please.

It usually runs back into the manifold or carb which is pulling a vacuum. My jeep had just breathers on it and at highway speeds would dump oil out the rear seal. Set up a Pcv w check valve then back to the carb and walla not another drop of oil

Long of time as it is a project car. I just want to know if I just change valve covers I will be ok or if I am now going to have to redo the seals

So I just get the right covers find a pcv valve for the other hole on the cover and hook it straight to the front of the carb in that port. Or how do I need to do this.

Yes depending on the carb. Seals should be fine, hell mine were old and it had been leaking a while. Drivers side needs a breather. Passenger needs pcv plug up to carb.

yea you just need some crankcase ventilation so pressure does not build. like you said get a valve cover with a pcv hole
