As soon as i start the car the batt light is on. I can check the voltage with the car running and with it off and watch it slowly drop on the meter. It drops faster when the car is running than off but you get the idea. Everything worked fine until i moved the stupid battery. I think i might be missing a wire somewhere or possibly a ground but im not sure where. Do i need a seperate charge wire from the alt to the batt if its been relocated or should the stock system work?

Did you connect your extended wires to the original wires or did you remove the original wires and run all new wires?
You don't need a seperate wire from the alternator to the battery you just need to make sure that the hot wires all meet somewhere. I.E. a power distribution block, they could all connect at the starter, just as long as all the wires are connected in some fashion. Another example, my Camaro had a stand alone wire from the alternator to the battery. My truck has a short wire off the alternator to a lug that the battery wire also connects to.
If you ran new wires did you run a ground off the battery to the body and to the engine block? You need both.
For the positive wire, did you run a hot wire to the alternator and to the starter or just the starter? If just to the starter, is the alternator wire connected at the starter too? The alternator charge wire can even sometimes go to the fuse box and the battery. There are tons of ways to set it up but make sure they all connect somewhere.sigpic

when i relocated the battery i also moved as many of the wires out of the engine bay that i could. I did not extend anything vital, but I did extend the wires on the o2 sensors, but that is it. Everything that attaches to the started solenoid from the fusible links to the starter wire were all reconnected onto the starter solenoid. I have the positive wire running from the battery to the positive side of the solenoid. I have a wire going from the solenoid to the starter. I have the negative side to ground on the block. I also have a ground from the battery to the chassis in the spare tire well. All of the rest of the grounds that are normally on the car are still there. Im almost positive that it is something simple, but I am not sure what it could be. I am almost at the point that I am going to put everything back to original so that I can enjoy my car again.

Shit dude I don't know, it sounds like you did it right. I would triple check all the connections. But it still sounds like a bad alternator, or as you mentioned possibly a grounded exciter wire.
Do you have a picture of your alternator? I can't remember what those look like off the top of my head, I am trying to picture the wiring set up. I may be able to help you diagnose it.
Edit: never mind about the picture, use the wiring diagrams below and check all the wires.Last edited by 00pooterSS; 07-11-2013, 10:37 AM.sigpic
