High idle ranger

1998 Ranger 5 speed

I stopped and grabbed some food, came back out and started the old beater and the damn thing wants to idle at 4k. I changed the IAC and TPS about 4 months ago. My dad has my code scanner and lives out in Waxahachie others I would be able to solve the damn problem myself. I would drive to vatozone, but don't want to drive it anywhere. Anyone got some ideas/ever had this issue?

My dads 98 ranger 5 speed had a lot of problems with his TPS(throttle position sensor) he kept a spare in his glove box. It would sometime idle very high or it wouldn't start. Sometimes it would just come loose pull it out and put it back in and it would fire right up.

Dude I can't figure this shit out, I've unplugged EVERYTHING lol, checked all the vac lines. NOTHING! My buddy thinks it's the mass air sensor or the air temp sensor. Something is causing full dump and obviously the TB is open. I hate electric crap. Carb cars were so much easier.

Didn't do it when it was running, I just unplugged everything to make sure everything had a good connection. Story???

my 91 ranger is a lot older than yours but i think all IAC close when they lose power. If you unplug it and the idle is still high, look for a vac leak. unplug all the hoses on the intake tree one at a time and seal the opening where you took off the hose with your finger, that might help isolate which is letting the air in.

The IAC was stuck open, just took it off and moved it open and closed a few times...truck runs fine now. Should I go ahead and replace it?
